Moral rot continues to plague Canada, hollowing out the government and tunneling into the judicial system. In an alarming display of judicial overreach and moral misjudgment, an Alberta justice has convicted Pastor Derek Reimer of “criminal harassment” for his vocal opposition to drag queen events. These exploitative drag queen events target babies and young children, introducing them to sexual content, grooming them to take part in explicit LGBTQ activities, and getting them used to the idea that they can be any gender they want to outwardly express.
Pastor Reimer recently protested against a perverted drag queen event at a public library called “Burlesque for Babies.”
The courts have been watching Pastor Derek Reimer and his Christian outreach organization closely, and they decided to convict him for speaking out at a Calgary public library. This conviction not only stifles individual expression but also raises serious concerns about the erosion of the culture’s moral standards in Canada.
On August 22, Justice Karen Molle of the Alberta Court of Justice found Reimer guilty of “criminal harassment” stemming from his protest activities earlier this year. The pastor’s crime? Voicing his dissent against the controversial “drag queen story hour” events that groom children for gender dysphoria, hormonal castration and genital mutilation. Reimer, the leader of MISSION7 — a Christian outreach organization in Calgary — had expressed his concerns to a library manager and subsequently posted a video of the encounter on social media. His disgust for these predatory activities was dismissed, and he was instantly seen as a threat to the community.
Pastor Reimer’s protest, which represents a bold stand for traditional values and parental rights, was met with a torrent of legal threats that can only be characterized as heavy-handed and totalitarian in nature. While the judge dismissed charges related to causing a disturbance with a loudspeaker, she did move forward with a criminal harassment conviction. He refuses to acquiesce to these charges and now faces bail violations for protesting at LGBT-themed events.
The ramifications of this ruling extend far beyond Reimer’s individual case. The conviction reflects a broader trend of judicial and legislative bodies increasingly curtailing the rights to free speech, assembly and religious expression. Reimer’s bail conditions now prohibit him from approaching or protesting any LGBT-themed event, raising questions about the limits placed on his freedom of expression and religious convictions.
The broader context reveals a troubling pattern. Calgary’s recent “Safe and Inclusive Access Bylaw” has already imposed draconian restrictions on protests near public buildings, including those hosting LGBT events. This bylaw not only bans protests within 100 meters of such locations but also imposes steep fines and potential jail time for violations. Those who violate these LGBT bylaws face $10,000 fines and one year in jail.
Such regulations appear to be designed not merely to maintain public order but to silence dissenting voices through fear and intimidation. Pastor Reimer’s arrest record, including multiple detentions for similar protests, highlights the growing influence of LGBTQ intimidation in government and their intolerance toward traditional religious and moral views. Parents, community leaders and religious communities have a right to defend their families from child exploitation and filth.
While he was jailed, those who defend the LGBTQ community vandalized his van with anti-Christian slurs, further intimidating to pastor to shut up. While the pastor protests using a sound, moral approach, the other side uses intimidation, lawfare and bullying to get their way. This further illustrates how the judicial system is weaponized against people of faith, and also stands aside, allowing child predators to spread their hate, intimidation and perversion.
The legal system’s punitive approach toward Reimer, combined with municipal bylaws that severely restrict the right to protest, signals a troubling trend where fundamental freedoms are increasingly compromised in the name of inclusivity and public order. The heavy-handed response to Reimer’s protests — a righteous and peaceful exercise of his rights — raises serious questions about the balance between protecting individuals and upholding basic freedoms. Reimer is currently awaiting a two-year jail sentence and is considering an appeal.
